JULY 10, 2008

We have a new staff and friend here at Pink Girlz, Inc.  Gabbi who came from Karen Mountain (who also sent Maggie. Scooter, and Missy) is living with our friend Skittles who is also a Papillon and they live with the 4 Paws Dog Care Manager, Alicia. Gabbi is a sweet girl who is a welcome addition to the 4 Paws Family and Pink Girlz Inc. Like Piper, Gabbi will soon help bring more Papillons to 4 Paws through the 4 Paws Breeding Program! We are looking for great puppies from both girlz! Meet Gabbi!

Things are always busy at 4 Paws and classes are always on the horizon. It is hard to believe they are making matches set in stone already! So much has happened. Make sure you check out Piper's new page "Piper's Travels" as she traveled with Karen to the Mike and Juliet Show in NYC and actually met celebrities! She said though that her favorite person was a make-up person who kept calling her "delicious" YUCK! I am so glad I stayed home to take care of business! We have a visitor in the office every day. She is doing occupational therapy! Missy is a little Papillion with the most serious Cerebral Palsy I have ever seen. She is very spastic but boy, she can move when she wants to. We ALL LOVE Missy and are so happy to have her visit. I asked Karen about getting her a service dog one day but Karen says it just would not work. HUMPH, BA HUM BUG! Missy came to us from Scooter's home and is very happy to have found her a home with the 4 Paws Cleaning Lady, Connie. She has gotten quite spoiled since moving in with Connie and her husband. Check out her pictures below. Maggie came back to 4 Paws from Connie's wow! She was WAY too spoiled and so off to prison she went but we got a few good pictures of that growing girl to share as well. Maggie is doing great and we hope she will graduate as a Seizure Assistance Dog one day. Karen has been running around like a crazy woman. After being featured on Good Morning America with Tom Woodruff and then the very next week appearing on the Mike and Juliet Show the phone has not stop ringing and the email box is always full! Yep, 4 Paws is hopping and that is just the way we like it. Piper has been very busy. You know the gal is courting 2 boys at once. Who knows who's babies she is going to have. That will have to be sorted out after that grand moment. So now we count the days until the pregnancy test can be read and the rabbit dies (Isn't that what happens?) You know I certainly hope not because we have some very nice rabbits around here. I asked a few and they said people and dogs had babies all the time and none of them ever dropped dead. Well, now start the count down today! In just 6 short weeks we should have a good clue, an ultrasound can be done and then I will know if being an AUNT is in my future! I sure hope so for Piper's sake. You know she has been trying for over a year now. (Don't tell her secret now - just think of her with good thoughts and a few prayers for some very cute little Piper babies would not help). Well, that's my update for today. I promise to try to post more often. xoxoxox Gracie

This is our new friend Missy who has severe Cerebral Palsy.

LOOK AT HOW MAGGIE IS GROWING UP!

February 22, 2008

Things are hopping again already. It seems like just yesterday that 8 of our friends graduated but so much time has passed and we are getting ready to do it all again. The families on the list are writing rhymes in hopes of conning Karen into matches but they should know by now she will never break! Video's are playing and replaying and Karen and Jeremy are pouring over loads of papers and looking at the 15 dogs worked for this class to narrow them down to the 12 lucky dogs who get to go to their new partners! How cool is that and what a BIG class! I hear this one will be one to remember. Party plans are being made and Piper is shopping for a new dress to wear. I am thinking about those drinks people are talking about! I just may have to sneak into a few of those but then again did you ever see a three legged pooch after a few sips of the good stuff? Not always a pretty sight LOL Maybe I better stick to those virgin drinks :0) Karen and Jeremy worked hard today setting dates for the classes through the end of the year and for a special trip to New Zealand in July. It seems like three of our friends will be going over seas to meet their kids! Can you believe it? Then in August we hear another is heading for Germany! WOW 4 Paws is getting known across the world and great things are happening. Well stay tuned because remember you hear it here first and we will know the matches before you will and will gladly share. Meanwhile, we have yet to receive any bribes from any of you. Come on folks send in your puperoni and beggin strips and we will see if we can sneak a peak at who is matched with who!

Well another class has graduated. Check them out on the Success page. We are getting bust for the next class which starts March 11th. The dogs scheduled for that class are full of excitement and wondering who their new partners will be, what they will look like, and if they like to play ball. We all know one thing they must all like the tracking game because every dog in that class is working hard at that one. I think they do it for the big jackpot of hotdogs at the end. I guess kids must like hotdogs too. Well the kids, they get to run off and hide and the dogs they get to go and follow the trail of scent they leave to get to them and get that reward! Jeremy and Karen are pouring over all those video's and are deep in discussion about who's personality fits the best with which dog and the voting is on. You see Piper and I have the advantage. We can see the TV and watch the video's then we take bets on who will get which kid. It is really fun and you would not believe the pay off. We have the inside tip because we can spy on Karen and Jeremy and hear their conversations so we start a bet and you know what, we win every time. you think the others would catch on, NOT. HEHEHEHEHEHEHE. The big news this past week was that Scooter was moving in. He has a playpen in Karen's bedroom but is never in it. Josh lives with us. He is the son of Karen's best friend and he works at 4 Paws helping to care for the dogs. he and Scooter have a great friendship so Scooter hangs out in his room most of the time. He is not allowed full run of the house like Piper and I because he and River might not always see eye to eye considering they are both males in the breeding program. Scooter has his eye set on Piper and comes to me for yips all the time. he is a good kid and I think he and Piper could have a very nice family one day! You know I do look forward to being an Aunt! Scooter is also going to do the dog show circuit like Esme did and one day he will have a title. See Esme left to live with her handlers for a year and came back Champion Esme but I hear Scooter will live with us and attend dog shows within driving time of our house so we can all go and watch him win! Well, I just wanted to let all ya'll out there in the March class that Piper and I will be taking bribes soon. now I can't promise you those bones and puperoni's you send our way will get you those emails about your dogs any faster but ya never know so start sending in those bribes.....  OOOPs Karen is coming I gotta run.......

WHOO HOOO  CLASS IS HERE!!!!!

Gracie and I went down for a visit and what a sight to see. Our friend Lady, an awesome German Shepherd Dog brought to us by the Wayne County Humane Society in Kentucky is in her element. She has a little boy named Alex to watch over. He has had so many seizures already in his short time here and Lady is right there beside him. She knows he is hers to keep watch over and she is all over that job. Lady told us she is going to Washington. I guess they are going to talk to the important people there about Alex and his disability and Lady will be right there with him.

Then there is a little boy named Jeb. What a handsome young man he is. He had open heart surgery and almost died which left him with severe CP but boy can Tinsel make him smile. Every time he drops a toy, wham!! Tinsel (now Kaye) is right on that. She snatches it from the floor, puts her feet up on the wheelchair tray and plops it right back down for him. You should see him smile then!!! Next to them was the smallest human we have ever seen! Ryleigh is 2 years old but she is hardly bigger than we are! (Well, okay that is stretching it a bit but she sure is small!). RayRay (now Dallas) is in heaven. He was laying right next to that little girl and she was grinning ear to ear. RayRay is a boy but he is a sensitive sort of guy and very "mothering" so he got the perfect job! Little Ryleigh is sure gonna need him as she grows. We hear surgery is on the horizon and RayRay will sure be needed - which is something he does very well! Keno, is leaving in this class and he got a great kid. Trevor is a pretty big boy and that's okay because we know how big that Great Pyrenees, Keno is! They look great together and Trevor kept hugging him. It was so cute to see.

Eric was there with Jedi and they looked like they were having a great time. Eric was telling Jedi about their boat and Jedi, he loves water so he was so excited to hear about that. Nyla, she came all the way from Canada to meet Hero! Hero is a quiet sort of guy and that is okay because Nyla is kinda quiet too and they seem to be a great team. Eddie is a little boy with Autism and boy can he move but that is cool because Claire, she sure can move too! We went over to see them and Eddie told us that Claire woke him up this morning with doggie kisses. His alarm went off, she sat right up, looked at it and said time to go buddy and kissed his face. He was laughing and seemed to think that is the best way to wake up! Chancer is in this class too. His boy, Iyal came to America from Russia! He has FASD and Chancer is the first dog placed with a child with FASD through 4 Paws so that is a really neat thing. He will get to be an ambassador in the FASD community.

Well, take a look at the Success page, we have posted loads of pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

January 15, 2007

Welcome to the new Papillion Madness Blog Spot. With the numbers of Paps growing in leaps and bounds around here we decided we should have a space where we can share our news. First the official announcement that Pink Girlz, Inc. has taken on two temporary staff, Scooter and Maggie. I will let them introduce themselves later. I am not very impressed with these two youngsters or for that matter, Dante but it is true that we are growing and the work has gotten away from us so we are happy to have the help. Now Piper and I can focus on the administrative work and let the youngsters work the field! I have had a really tough time teaching them to respect our food bowl rules, mainly that I always eat first (well Piper also can eat with me) and you would not believe these little ones! They have no respect! They potty in the office!!! Can you believe that. We will have a time teaching them that this is done outside only. Karen has not been happy at all. She seems to know just where to step to hit all the poop mines left by these little devils and that makes her not so happy! They better learn fast if they plan to stay around! There are some benefits to having more Paps in the office, Karen seems to be quite happy dressing them up and has left me out of it. For that I would put up with as many Paps as it takes! Piper of course has conned Karen into several new dresses by looking pitiful and sad when Karen is dressing up the new babies. The guilt is just too much and works every time! Things are really spinning around the training center. Everyone is cleaning like there is no tomorrow, well at 4 Paws that phrase means like there is a class tomorrow! Yes, it is almost time for the next kids class. In less than 2 weeks the center will be taken over by little people coming to bring some of our good friends home. The talk among the class dogs is very busy. They are talking about what their kids will be like. I know Karen tells them some things about their kids but they can't wait to meet them! Well, I am off to chew on one of those bones I stole from Indy when she wasn't looking! xoxo Gracie

Hey, hope ya'll enjoy our new blog page. I think it is exciting that we have this means of letting you know what is going around the center and in the office. Our office is busy with the new Papillon babies we are working with. Dante is our new permanent staff. Gracie was not keen on inviting a male to work for us but I was all for it and put on a new pink dress for the occasion! Most of you have already met Dante as he has his own page on this web site. He is a great boy. Well, he is young which can be quite challenging. I spend a good part of the day explaining why it is not appropriate to lift one's leg on everything in the office. Men! The new youngsters, Maggie and Scooter are very busy little Paps and some times I have to just get up in my recliner and shake my head. They can be exhausting! Speaking of Exhausting... it is just the beginning of the two weeks pre-class insanity. Everyone is running around getting the place in order and ready to get down to business when all the kids come in. The class dogs are full of excitement. They have been working hard for most of a year getting ready for the big moment when they are introduced to their kids and they are PUMPED! Most of them are composing the letters they will send to their kids! Well, I have to go help Keno with his spelling! xoxo Piper

Hi everyone! Isn't this an exciting day! I learned about THE day today. This is the day when the class dogs get to meet their new kids. I have so much to learn about how 4 Paws works. Myself, I am going to live between 4 Paws and Karen's house but the other dogs here (except Gracie and Piper) are all learning how to help kids. That is so exciting! I can't wait to see the end result in action! Today I got some new clothes. I was feeling a big well, lets just say I was drowning in Pink. I got cool Harley clothes, a hat, and even some cool goggles. I am really the MAN now! I was the only man but now I have Scooter to mentor. I taught him how to mark stuff today. Karen does not seem to appreciate the needs of a male dog. I mean what is more important in life than letting other dogs know what is yours? I posted some new pictures on my web page so make sure you take a look! xoxo Dante aka THE MAN

Hello! My name is Maggie and I am 3 months old. My breeder Karen Mountain donated Scooter and I to 4 Paws so we could learn service dog work and help someone one day. We know all about helping kids because our cousin, Theo is already working as a 4 Paws Service Dog! He is a Seizure Alert Dog for a young boy named Bryant. His brother Vinnie lives with them too! I am a Black and White Papillon and have already made a name for myself..Tuff Stuff..is what they call me because I may be tiny but I can hold my own. I live with the 4 Paws Cleaning Lady, Connie. She fell in love with Papillon's when she met Gracie and Piper and so she wanted to let me live with her until I am old enough for advanced training. I get to go everywhere she goes. I have been to the store, a football game, and out and about town. Wow! It is so much fun! Well, I am looking forward to this next year with Pink Girlz, Inc. and my service dog lessons! xoxo Maggie

Hello everyone, my name is Scooter and I am a 6 month old Tri-color Papillon. I came to 4 Paws with Maggie as she explained above and I am very excited to be here and have so much to learn. I plan to learn everything and be the best service dog ever. Karen says I am the clown. I love to make people laugh and am a very proper boy. I just love everyone and am the first to greet new people when they came into the office. I wonder what kind of service dog work I will learn. I want to be a great service dog like my cousin Theo! While I am here, I hope to learn a lot from the Girlz too about life with humans and how to get the most out of it. I am a gorgeous boy who could easily have done well in the show ring but all I want in life is a child I can love and help! Dante says he will make a man of me and I laugh because I know Dante is only 3 months older than I am :0) He thinks he is so smart too! I can tell you this, I think he is the one who needs to learn! You should see Karen's face when he lifts his leg in the office. I mean being a man is a good thing but one must learn to do that outside! I am very excited about being able to talk with you about what we are learning and being a part of PInk Girlz, Inc. So I am sure I will post in here often! xoxo Scooter
