LAKIN CORRECTIONAL CENTER

Lakin Correctional Center is located in West Virginia just over the Ohio border. We are happy to have added this prison to our program and have 20 dogs living with the women in this facility. We moved our first dogs into the facility in November of 2006 and the women have settled in to the training routine and are doing well. A few faces have come and gone since it is often found that the dogs are a lot more work than one might think but our friends who have been in the program and came back to visit said that it is running smoothly and the dogs, as always are in charge. Oh well, Piper says that I should not have told you this as it is politically correct to allow the humans to think they are in charge but I have never been politically correct, that is for sure! So the statement stands! While at LCC the dogs like at our other prisons have a main handler and a back-up handler who share a cell and the responsibility of making sure the dogs needs are met. They have their own building at this prison with it's own yard where the dogs can play off lead and be safe about it. The building and the rooms were designed with the dog program in mind and each room has a place for a crate. Why they have a crate is beyond me since our visiting friends brag that they slept in the bed while at LCC. Maybe the inmates slept in the crates? We will have to ask our dog friends about this one.

 
LUKE

PROMISE

Luke is an awesome Black Lab who came to us from the Trenton Animal friends shelter. He is a lovable guy who wiggles his whole body when he is excited and happy! Luke came to us very sick and spent a number of days with Dr Josh but he was meant to be with us because he has the best personality and is so suited for service dog work. Luke is doing great in the training program and is very excited to be ready for advanced training!

Hello! Promise here. My name is Promise because I tell everyone I will be a great service dog, I promise! I am one of the MJ x Hobo crew born April 26, 2007. SOme of our littermates are in puppy homes, maybe you might want to be MY puppy raiser! My brother, Treasure, and I are hanging out in FPRC for the time being. We are having fun playing and hanging out with the girls. For now this is me just before I left, WOW what a bath can do! Piper said I was a Stud Muffin!
LANCE MADDIE
These April fools babies just arrived at 4 Paws from the Wayne County Humane Society in Kentucky. Lance is the cute boy on the left with the solid Black nose. He seems like a "prince" of a dog so Sir Lancelot it is! Just look at those gorgeous Blue eyes! BD: 4-1-2007 Maddie is a GoldenDoodle who came to us from a bad rescue who did little for the dogs in their care, because of her prior neglect we lost 4 of her brothers and sisters just after their arrival. Maddie hopes to be a shining star to set a memorial for the ones who were called to be service angels. Maddie was being raised by the Brennan Family and this is her with her new friend Madegan Brennan just before they left 4 Paws. Maddie was born April 1, 2007 and is now back at 4 Paws to further her training.

LODI

ALLIE
Lodi, who is obviously Lance's brother is the cute boy in the front with a bit of Pink on his nose. We have not decided exactly what kind of dogs these cute brothers are but we think perhaps Dad was a hound dog and Mom was an Australian Shepherd. Hmmmm sounds like trackin' dogs to us! Lodi was born April 27, 2007. Allie aka Mervar's 4 Paws Tomorrow's Dream is a Golden Retriever born 9-17-2005. Her parents are Telcontar's Testament at Mervar and Deangate Mervar's Best Western. Allie is a happy loving dog who lives with the Varick family and Nakita most of the time. Michelle also competes in 4H with Allie.
ALVENA BEN
Alvena is a member of the Elfin Gang born to Olivia on 11-9-2007. Olivia and her pups were rescued from the Menafee County Animal Control. Olivia is a Lab mix and the pups all seem to be Lab mixed with maybe some sort of Spaniel like the Cumberland Spaniel.  Alvena is a girl pup and is so cute. 4 Paws is pleased to add Big Ben aka "4 Paws In Memory of Big Ben" and Blessing aka "4 Paws Blessings for those to come" to our breeding program. These two mark the first additions of Labrador Retrievers to our program with several more to follow! Ben and Blessing were purchased from a local breeder who bred solely for temperament and companionship qualities, both high on the list of requirements for a dog in our program! Ben and Blessing were born September 29, 2007.
BLESSING HAGRID

4 Paws is pleased to add Big Ben aka "4 Paws In Memory of Big Ben" and Blessing aka "4 Paws Blessings for those to come" to our breeding program. These two mark the first additions of Labrador Retrievers to our program with several more to follow! Ben and Blessing were purchased from a local breeder who bred solely for temperament and companionship qualities, both high on the list of requirements for a dog in our program! Ben and Blessing were born September 29, 2007.

 One of Ginny Weasley's kids, Hagrid is one of the Harry Potter Gang born, 10-10-2007. He came to 4 Paws with her Mom and bothers and sisters from the Wayne County Humane Society in Kentucky.
MARTIN MESA
Martin is an awesome Black Lab rescued from the Trenton Animal Friends Shelter. He was born 7-2-2007 and is working hard so he can graduate soon! Mesa is one of the National Parks Gang born last year to our own Allie and Hobo. Mesa and her siblings are Goldendoodles and have great days ahead of them! They were born November 9, 2007.
 
OLIVE ROCKY

TEAL WONDER
Teal is a Golden Retriever puppy born to Nemo and Dreamer on October 28, 2007.  This is a great litter of pups from two awesome parents so expect to see great things from them!

I "wonder" what my partner will be like? This is the question Wonder asks us every single day so you can see why he got his name. Wonder is a beautiful pup with apricot ears and soft, creamy fur. Wonder is the smallest boy with the biggest heart! He has so much to offer and will work heard to get there! Honor is an MJ x Hobo pup who was born here at 4 Paws on  on April 29, 2007!  Yankee is with the _ family (Brigitt, Bert, Kevin 12 yrs, Bryce 10 yrs, Robyn 8 yrs, and Nathan 5 yrs)

Wonder is now back at 4 Paws for advanced training and hopes to graduate soon!

 

DANTE KIERA

Kiera is a half sister to Dreamer and full sister to Kimba. She is a beautiful Gold-Rush Golden Retriever purchased this year to add to our breeding program. She came to 4 Paws with her sister Kiera. These girls are half sisters to our own Dreamer who had her first 4 Paws litter this last year. Their father, like Dreamer's also, is Champion Gold-Rush National Treasure.
